University Summer Schools
Dear Parent/Carer,
This is the time of year that universities invite students in Year 12 to spend several days (and nights) at their universities on their Summer School Programmes.

Students who sign-up, who are eligible and who are offered a place, stay at the university in student halls of residence, they attend subject specific taster lectures and workshops and live like a university student for the time they spend there. This gives them a chance to experience what life as a university student is like and gain a greater understanding of the subject they intend to study. Students who attend a summer school always find writing the Personal Statement on their UCAS application form much easier as they have so much to draw on as a result of their participation. Attendance at summer schools is free as is the accomodation, lectures, food and some travel. Please see the individual university websites for more information. If there is a university that is not listed below that interests you, please check their website to see if they are also running a summer school. All universities develop their own programmes and eligibility criteria.
Students who are eligible for Widening Participation are prioritised but the programmes are open to all.
Universities that past students have signed up for include:
University of Sussex - - deadline 30th April (applying earlier is advised)
Sutton Trust (offers summer schools at many top universities) - - deadline March 8th
University of Brighton - - deadline 30th April (students advised to apply earlier)
Royal Holloway - - deadline 30th March
University of Surrey - - deadline 23rd March
University of Aberdeen - - deadline 29th June
University of Bath - - deadline 23rd March
If you have any questions, please email me.
Best wishes,
