URGENT: Change to College Arrangements for Tomorrow Friday 26

Sent to Level 1 Year 1

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please see the urgent email below that has just been sent to all students regarding operational changes for tomorrow, Friday 26 June.

Despite changing temperatures, Brighton has just been upgraded to a Red Alert status. In light of this updated safety guidance and the ongoing likelihood of severe rail disruption, we have made the decision to cancel all in-person timetabled lessons tomorrow and keep our scheduled one-to-one sessions online.

The college will remain open for limited hours (10:00am - 2:00pm) for any students who wish to use the library and cooler workspaces, though the canteen will be closed (vending machines remain available). Full logistical details can be found in the student message below.

We appreciate your ongoing patience as we navigate this fast-moving situation. We hope that you and your families keep safe and well during this extreme weather.

Best wishes,

Donna-Marie

Principal

URGENT: Change to College Arrangements for Tomorrow -Friday 26

Dear Students,

I am writing to you with an urgent update regarding tomorrow. While temperatures are due to fluctuate and shift, Brighton has been upgraded to a Red Alert status. Because your safety is our absolute priority and a Red Alert carries a high risk of severe travel disruption, we will not be returning to normal timetabled lessons in College tomorrow, Friday, 26 June. Instead, we will remain online for student reviews with your teachers.

Here is exactly what you need to know for Friday:

  • One-to-One Reviews Remain Online: If you have a scheduled one-to-one or progress review tomorrow, this will now be conducted entirely online. Your tutor or teacher will be in touch via email with your digital meeting link.
  • The College is Open (Limited Hours): If you still wish to come into college to use our cooler workspaces, the building and the library will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Food and Drink: Please note that the canteen will be closed tomorrow, so there will be no fresh food options. However, the vending machines will remain fully stocked and usable.

I know changes can be unsettling, but drawing a clear line now avoids unnecessary travel chaos and ensures you all stay safe.

Please look after yourselves today during the peak of this heat (there is some guidance here), stay hydrated, and check your college emails regularly.

Best wishes,

Donna-Marie
