Personal Statement Writing Day, 26 June

Dear Parent/Carer,

The University Information Day is taking place on June 24th (next Tuesday). All students who have signed up have been sent the details of where they need to be with a map and a programme for the day. If they are unsure, please ask them to search their email inbox for emails fromcvd@varndean.ac.uk. Registration opens at 9:15 at both universities. They will need to bring a packed lunch please. There is no student parking at either campus.

On June 26th we are running the Personal Statement Writing Day (in college)....this is for any student who thinks they may apply to university and it might also be helpful for those who aren't sure and want to find out more....

The Personal Statement is the most daunting part of the application form and we recognise this. This day is for helping students feel more confident about the process. If they "don't feel ready yet", "haven't even chosen a subject yet", "wouldn't know what to say" - this day is for them!!

I'd recommend signing up for a personal statement workshop - they are double running all day 10-3 so they should be able to find a time they can attend one. I'd also suggest a 1:1 chat with a university admissions team member in the Hall - they are all lovely and want to support even the most worried/nervous student....I encourage students to go with a friend so they can 'bounce' ideas off each other.

They don't need to have written anything at this point....

Students may still sign up for the Personal Statement Writing Day if they would like to. I have just sent the link to them again today, Friday 20th.

Normal lessons are taking place on Thursday so students will need to book their favoured activities around their lesson timetable if possible.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Best wishes, Cordelia
