Slides and Information from New Parent's Progression Evening

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well.

Thank you to everyone who attended the New Parent's Progression Evening yesterday. It was a pleasure to see so many of you. I understand that attending evening events can sometimes be difficult, so for those who couldn't join us, or for anyone who would like to revisit the content, I have attached the presentation slides for your reference. You can access them here:Varndean at Sussex University Progression evening 2024.pptx

In addition, I would like to bring to your attention a public consultation being conducted by Brighton and Hove City Council on secondary school catchment areas. We have been asked to share this with all parents to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. While many of your children have already progressed through the secondary system, your feedback is still highly valuable.

You can access the consultation through the YourVoice platform, which includes the survey, detailed information about the proposed changes, and instructions on how to sign up for upcoming events:

If you prefer to submit your thoughts via email, please use:schoolorganisation@brighton-hove.gov.uk.

So far, over 1,000 responses have been submitted, but the council is eager to hear from even more families before the consultation period ends. There are two remaining public online meetings:

  • 16th October - 6:30 pm
  • 21st October - 11:30 am

We encourage you to take part and have your say.

Finally, James Gordon will be sending further information about our upcoming reading week, which will take place the first week after half-term,(w/c 4th November). During this week, students are not required to attend lessons. Year 1 students will have individual online appointments with their teachers to review their progress and reflect on the start of the term. Our library, cafe and study areas are open should students wish to come into College to study. More details to follow.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Warm regards,

Donna-Marie Janson
