with best wishes

Communications team, sent on behalf of James Gordon, Deputy Principal

Welcome back!

Welcome back to Year 2! I hope you all had a good summer break and are now looking forward to returning to college.

Your Year 2 timetable will be available onMy Varndean from this Friday, 6th September 2024.

It is important to check your timetable very carefully to see what time your first lesson is onMonday 9th September. Don't forget to complete your Moving On work for each of your subjects in readiness for your first lessons.

If you have any queries about your timetable or programme of study you should speak to your tutor or you can drop into the study cafe at lunchtime or from 4.15pm where senior staff will be available for you to talk to.

We have improved the estate over the summer with newly developed classrooms for Sport & PE, Graphics, Games Development, Film and Travel and Tourism. Our Careers department has relocated to tutorial base in Room 53 and we have a new study space in Room 14.3. Please do find some time to visit these new spaces, they will really enhance the learning experience for a significant number of our students.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all about the importance of attendance in your 2nd year. Our recent leavers achieved some fabulous results this summer but it should be noted that the average attendance for students who achieved an A* - B or a Distinction and above was95%. Of the few students who achieved an E, D or Pass grade their average attendance was85%. The evidence is clear that the more you attend the better the outcome. We will be monitoring attendance really closely this year and it is important to follow our absence processes (which can be foundhere) if you are unable to attend any lesson.

I do hope you all settle back into college well and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

James Gordon

Deputy Principal
