|University Summer Schools|
Every Year, Year 12 Varndean College students have the opportunity to spend a week living and studying (all costs paid for) at one of eleven top UK universities through the Sutton Trust Summer School Programme. We would like as many of our eligible Year 12 students as possible to apply and take up this once only invitation.
Universities offering the summer schools include Durham, Edinburgh, Warwick, Cambridge, UCL, King's College, London, Bristol, Imperial and others. The list of courses students can choose from exceeds 100 - it would be important to check which Unis are offering which subjects. This can be done on the link below.
All travel, accommodation and food costs are paid for.
The Sutton Trust want to make sure students are given exposure to universities they may have otherwise not have considered applying to. Visiting them and living on campus gives students the chance to recognise their own capabilities and meet other students who are about to make similar important HE decisions.
Attendance at a summer school can also really enhance the Personal Statement on a UCAS application form. The knowledge and experience students gain during summer schools can bring to life the learning they are participating in at college and bring a determined focus to their ambitions.
