University Information Evening for Parents/Carers

Dear Parent / Carer

We are delighted to invite you our University Information Evening for parents/carers, taking place at Varndean College, on 26 March in our main hall.

The aim of the evening is to provide an insight into the support students receive at college when considering university and to provide you with the information you need so you can best support them through the process if they want help at home.

All parents and carers will hear talks on the university application process, how to choose a subject and select universities, the importance of attending open events and the application timeline. University of Brighton will give a talk on Student Finance and all things related to funding and financing university study.

After the two main talks, parents will be able to select one further activity if they would like to from the list below:

• The 1 year (post A level) Art Foundation course
• Oxbridge applications
• Medicine/Veterinary/Dentistry applications
• General Q&A with Cordelia Dobbie, Careers Manager

This event is designed purely for parents or carers, as students receive presentations on the material in their tutorial sessions at College. Information from the evening will be made available post event via our homepage www.varndean.ac.uk under drop down menu; Careers /For Parents.
